Ashley specialises in personal welfare and deprivation of liberty cases in the Court of Protection. Ashley studied law at Sheffield Hallam University before joining a national firm as a paralegal within the Public Law team. She progressed her legal studies through CILEX Law School and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in June 2019, whilst working full time.

It was during the five and half years working in her previous role, that she developed her desire to specialise in Court of Protection work and her passion for helping some of the most vulnerable people in society and their families. Having worked initially in Sheffield and then Leeds, Ashley has developed extensive contacts in the Yorkshire area and worked hard to further Court of Protection work in the region.

Ashley is able to provide advice across a wide range of issues including:

Court of Protection and the Mental Capacity Act 2005:

  • Personal welfare applications, including serious medical treatment
  • Deprivation of liberty
  • Personal welfare deputyships
  • Cross jurisdictional applications

Proceedings in the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court

Ashley accepts instructions from litigation friends, advocates, RPRs as well as family members and other interested parties.  Ashley is a member of the Law Society’s mental capacity accreditation scheme, meaning she can act as an accredited legal representative.
